Once again I tried to ingratiate myself into the exulted world of Photographic Art. My entry to the London Salon of Photography was a little rushed this year and I almost missed the deadline! I’ve been working on my style of Pictorialism more and more this year, with the aim of truly creating a definitive ‘Tom Lee’ style.

I was fortunate enough to be awarded a Gold medal last year at my first attempt and was keen to follow up on this success. Although there is maximum of 8 entries allowed, only two can be accepted for exhibition in the salon. I was elated to find that yet again I have been favoured with acceptances and have two picked by the selection committee.

’Singular Clarity'

‘Singular Clarity’ is a purely simple composition based on my ‘Shibusa’ project. Shibui is a Japanese term which refers to a particular aesthetic of simple, subtle, and unobtrusive. Shibusa is an enriched, subdued appearance or experience of intrinsically fine quality with economy of form, line, and effort, producing a timeless tranquility.

‘Lady of the Lake'

‘Lady of the Lake’  is an interpretation of the Arthurian legend relating to the return of Excalibur to it’s birthplace. The lady is a mythical figure (sometimes referred to in Viviane) symbolising the link between the mortal and mystical world.
