About Focus Quarterly

In an age of endless images, Focus Quarterly invites a slower way of seeing.

Its outlook is quietly informed by the legacy of Alfred Stieglitz and the spirit of Camera Work, where photography was first championed as a contemplative art.

A quarterly journal of poetic, lyrical and philosophical photography.

Focus Quarterly is conceived as a reflective space within contemporary photographic culture. Each issue presents a dialogue between two artists — one continuing voice and one invited guest — whose work is brought together through thoughtful sequencing and visual sensitivity.

Across its pages, photographs explore stillness, light, texture and the quiet passage of time. The journal favours visual presence over explanation, allowing images to resonate naturally rather than through extensive commentary.

Published four times a year — in April, July, October and January — Focus Quarterly is produced in limited numbers to preserve a sense of intimacy and craft. Copies are available by subscription at £10 per issue or £35 annually, inclusive of UK postage.
