STREET PHOTOGRAPHY

Street photography forms an ongoing strand within my wider practice, centred on the observation of everyday human presence within public space. From the earliest years of the medium, photographers have contributed to the visual memory of society, creating records that extend beyond written history and reveal the subtleties of gesture, interaction and environment.

This project seeks to acknowledge that tradition while responding to the complexities of contemporary life. Working in an unobtrusive and respectful manner, I aim to photograph moments that reflect the character of place and the quiet structures of social experience. The intention is not spectacle, but recognition — an attentive witnessing of lived reality as it unfolds.

Often associated with the humanist photographic tradition, the work presented here is guided by sensitivity towards individuals and communities. Images are made with care and consideration, with the understanding that the act of photographing carries both responsibility and privilege.

This work continues to develop through patient observation and repeated return. The intention is not to define or interpret the lives of others, but simply to acknowledge moments of presence as they unfold within shared public space. In doing so, the photographs form a modest visual record of everyday experience — fleeting encounters that, over time, contribute to a broader sense of collective memory.
