It has been my privilege to curate the Visual Art Group’s Exhibition for each of the last three years. Whilst physically and mentally exhausting, my team pulls out all the stops for the #RPS special interest groups annual event.

We send out a ‘Call for Entries’ for the 2025 VAG Exhibition to all the groups members asking them to submit up to three #prints of their choice, for consideration to be included in a travelling #exhibition that we hold throughout the following year, at several venues up and down the country.

In order to do this, we gather together three learned individuals to make selections from the members’ submissions. These in turn are graded into Selected entries, Commended, Highly Commended, Selectors Choice and finally the overall #Gold #Medal Winner. Every year our standards are not only maintained but the bar is consistently raised, showing the breadth of #talent that our group possesses.

With over 256 entries from 87 submissions, it was a long day! Each submission was given equal #consideration by this years selectors, James Frost FRPS, Hazel Frost FRPS and Mark Reeves FRPS, who travelled from opposite ends of the country to #scrutinise each individual print, agonising for some time over the eventual award winners.

Our heartfelt #thanks go to the efforts of the selectors and of course my Exhibition Working Group team, without whom I could not administer these events in support of our members.

I was fortunate to pick up a Highly commended award this year for my print "Lily's Lament'.

A single white lily in a glass vase on a table against a textured beige curtain. The setting is calm and minimalist, with fallen petals.
